Gallery release: ‘Winter Dolomiti’

A landscape that needs no introduction. The Dolomites of Italy were one of the first international destinations that captured my mind as a young photographer, and have consistently been an incredibly popular mountain range for photographers worldwide over many years. When the opportunity came to extend a family ski trip in February 2024, I jumped at the opportunity to make some of my own images in this spectacular region.

Exploring and photographing an area such as the Dolomites for the first time in deep winter came with its challenges, though this was aided by the strong tourism infrastructure throughout the mountains. We were blessed with heavy snowfall at the beginning of the trip, which slowly waned and melted from there; this resulted in the first half being much more productive than the second half. I found myself gravitating towards minimal and intimate scenes of the winter landscape, only capturing a few iconic wide mountain vistas that I simply couldn't resist.

Whilst the persistent infrastructure throughout the range made me yearn for the immersive wilderness regions back home, the beauty of these mountains was absolutely undeniable. I look forward to one day returning in warmer months for deeper exploration.
